Del frikismo considerado como una de las bellas artes
Estaba esperando con impaciencia la aparición del libro "El fenòmen Springsteen: Parlen els fans catalans" (Ara Llibres), ni más ni menos que como lo que soy, uno más de esos fans catalanes abducidos por el fenómeno de New Jersey, en mi caso desde hace ya casi 30 años. Y acabo de leerlo. Piel de gallina desde la primera hasta la última página. Se consume con la misma voracidad y atropello con la que escuchas por primera vez un nuevo disco o asistes a sus conciertos. No en vano está escrito por fans tan incondicionales como el más de un centenar de testimonios recogidos -entre los que me enorgullezco de estar- y a pesar de ello tiene la suficiente seriedad como para interesar a un público más amplio, siempre que éste sea capaz de quitarse de encima unos cuantos prejuicios.
El libro ejerce un innegable efecto diván entre los acólitos porque permite conocernos mejor individual y colectivamente. Asume sin tapujos el frikismo demostrando que ser fan en algunos casos no es sinónimo de imbecilidad, exhibiendo con orgullo pasión, inteligencia y emoción, los excesos, la ternura, el humor o la autocrítica a partes iguales. Un libro que habla de cine y de literatura, pero también de padres y de hijos, de valores, de ética y compromiso, de amor y dolor y sobretodo, de rock and roll.
Y luego está ese tema del romance con Barcelona que se aborda sin chauvinismos. Los fans, que por fortuna no estamos cortados por el mismo molde, discrepamos razonablemente para acabar viendo la cosa como lo del vaso medio lleno o medio vacío. Como debe ser.
Sólo dos cosas ensombrecen un poco el placer casi extático que me ha producido su lectura. Por un lado la llamativa ausencia de algunos conocidos fans catalanes que me consta que no han faltado por despiste de los autores. Y por el otro, más ajeno al propio libro, el hecho de que por haber sido escrito en catalán haya provocado la consabida pataleta de los mismos a los que nunca se les ocurriría exigir a Bruce Springsteen que cantase en castellano.
